Woodenshoes Clog factory Klompenmuseum

Information

Clogs (wooden shoes) are a type of footware, made predominantly out of wood. Clogs were widely worn by workers as protective clothing in factories and farms.

A wooden shoe workshop is situated at De Zaanse Schans in a former 1780 snuff and grain warehouse. Part of the storehouse is the wooden shoe museum, one of the largest and most beautiful collections of wooden shoes in Holland. Free clog (wooden shoe) making demonstrations take place at regular intervals during the day.

Detailed information

Today, dutch clogs are primarily a beloved tourist souvenir. But they still remain popular by people working in their gardens, farms and by planters. Some of the Dutch also consider wearing clogs as being healty for the wearers' feet.
