The Hermitage Amsterdam is a branch of the Hermitage in St. Petersburg (Russia), situated along the Amstel river. The building in which the Hermitages is housed, was since 1681 a home for the elderly. The renovated museum was officially opened on June 19th 2009 by the Dutch queen Beatrix and the Russian president Medvedev.
