Oliebollen Oliebollen

Information

An oliebol is a traditional Dutch food, traditionally eaten on New Year's Eve and at funfairs. Oliebollen are usually served with powdered sugar.

Oliebollen are made by using two spoons to scoop dough and drop it into hot oil. In this way, a sphere-shaped oliebol emerges. The dough is made from flour, eggs, yeast, salt, milk, baking powder and usually sultanas, currants, raisins and sometimes apple pieces. The dough needs to rise for at least one hour.
