Keukenhof ("Kitchen garden") is the world's largest flowergarden. Approximately seven million flower bulbs are planted by hand. It covers an area of 32 hectares and is the most photographed place in the world.
The garden was established in 1949 by the then-mayor of Lisse. The idea was to present a flower exhibit where growers from all over the Netherlands could show their flowers, and help the dutch export industry (it is the world's biggest exporter of flowers).
Detailed information
